The Go *nix Initiative was created in May of 2009 with the goal of aiding in the conversion of new users to Unix, Linux, and BSD from other operating systems (namely Microsoft Windows).

It is our goal to create and maintain a valuable resource to which users can aid in the creation and maintenance of the majority of sections to in essence make a part of the site their own by allowing them to submit new content, report non-existing content, and comment on all content.

We strive to maintain a fully valid (xHTML and CSS) and accessibility (Section 508) resource. We feel that every user should be able to access any site online, regardless of any disability that they may have. We've created a goal of ensuring that alternative text readers, and alternative systems can fully access every portion of the site (if you find one you're having problems with, just let us know!).
